School Lunch & Milk
School Lunches
Children at Norwood Green Juniors have the choice of either a school meal or a packed lunch. Menus are provided twice a year (Autumn term/Spring and Summer/Autumn) by Wilson Jones, the school’s external catering company. The meals are freshly cooked on site in our school kitchen.
Meals provided each day will include a main dish, halal dish, and vegetarian dish option with a dessert. There is also always a Fish option on a Friday. Fresh fruit, seasonal vegetables or salad and fresh bread will be available every day. Children are also provided with water.
Should your child have any dietary requirements for medical or religious reasons please notify the school.
All school lunch choices need to be booked by Tuesday midnight, one week in advance, online through ParentPay (https://www.parentpay.com). If you miss the one-week deadline, you will have to provide your child with a packed lunch.
The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has extended funding free school meals for London’s state primary schoolchildren for this academic year (2024-25) as the cost-of-living crisis continues to hit families across the country.
As a result, Wilson Jones, our school caterer, will continue to provide free hot school lunches for all our children.
We know that some children enjoy having a packed lunch from home. Wilson Jones will also continue to provide a packed lunch option for those who prefer not to have hot school lunches.
Alongside this will be a selection of salads and fresh fruit as well as the provision of water to drink.
If you do not wish to take up either of these options, you can still provide your child with a packed lunch from home. However, we would encourage all families to take up the offer of hot/cold school meals, which from September, could save families around £440 per child.

Packed Lunch
Packed lunches must be brought into school in a suitable lunch box by your child when they come into school at 9:00am. Packed lunches are stored outside the classrooms, on trollies until lunchtime.
Please ensure your child has a balanced meal that contains something savoury, such as a sandwich/roti and a piece of fresh fruit. Do not include any fizzy drinks, sweets or chocolate. Please do not include nuts of any type, including sesame seeds or nut containing products such as peanut butter, Nutella in sandwiches or cereal bars containing nuts. This is due to a high number of children having severe allergies within the school.
